I have birthed 3 babies in Omaha now. And every time, when my belly started to grow, I usually needed something new to wear! Unfortunately it has become rather difficult to purchase maternity clothing in general, but especially in person.
When you’re pregnant, it’s especially nice to be able to try things on before you purchase them. For many reasons – your size has probably changed, and styles will look different online than in person. I’ve noticed maternity models look very elegant and editorial. When I get dressed I usually end up feeling like a frumpy pumpkin person.
The last thing that I really need to consider in maternity clothing is comfort. I am someone who really just cannot deal with my pants falling down, or itchy materials, or being super sweaty when I’m pregnant! I already have so much going on inside of me and outside of me (I have 4 kids lol), that clothing bugging me really kind of puts me over the edge. I need to be calm and reasonable and not yelling because my clothes are falling off (I’m looking at you high rise maternity jeans).
So all that being said, I wanted to round up a few places that I have found in Omaha that carry maternity clothing in person. For you to go in and try on! Plus, if there’s any direct links to my favorite items, I will link them as well.
Bigwheels to Butterflies is a kid’s resale store. The Papillion location has a large section dedicated to maternity clothing. I have personally never purchased anything from there. I did visit once during my last 2 pregnancies but the location is kind of far for me, and I am extremely picky about my wardrobe and keep it as minimal as possible. I just didn’t stumble upon anything I needed. I think it would be worth a look if this is your first pregnancy and you live a little closer!
I do love their stores for my kid’s clothing though. I shop there frequently for my children, and I usually always find nice items for my oldest son, who is now 6.
Target has a small selection of maternity clothing, but definitely the largest as far as chain stores go. The stores I have visited generally have a dedicated section and various sizes and choices. The variety has seemed to lessen over the years but still a good choice.
The app and website make it really easy to see what they have and if the store near you carries it, and in what sizes.
I wear maternity leggings almost exclusively when I am pregnant. During my 4th pregnancy, I had 4 leggings and 3 of them were these ones. I love them because they are lightweight, wash extremely well, and they stay up all day.
lightweight active leggings – and let me be clear. I did not wear these for exercising 🤣
Kohl’s on Oakview Drive (it’s possible the other locations have some as well) has a small maternity section next to the infant clothing. Although small, they do fit a handful of nice items. Usually you can find a couple styles of shirts, dresses, and pants there, as well as a clearance rack of miscellaneous maternity items.
I have also found a number of dresses that aren’t specifically maternity, but are bump-friendly at Kohl’s.
My 4th pair of leggings were these cotton ones from Kohl’s. They are very nice, and I particularly like the material. Stretchy but cotton-feel. And they stay up all day too!
Walmart has a big selection of maternity clothing now! I haven’t personally needed to look there for maternity clothing in a long time, but they have a lot of staples. And again the website and app makes it really easy to see if they have what you’re looking for.
My experience with Old Navy in Omaha is that they carry maternity clothing only if someone made an online order and returned it in store. Sometimes they have a gem or two!
That’s it for the roundup of places to look for maternity clothing in Omaha! Other honorable mentions for places to shop online and return in store are H&M and Gap. These places carry maternity clothing online but not in stores.
