There is something so special about getting to photograph a baby more than once, watching them grow from those tiny newborn days into their own little person. I first met Kevin when he came to the studio for his newborn photos, and getting to see him again for his six-month milestone session was such a treat!
For his session, we kept things simple with a mini milestone session focused on Kevin just as he is right now. At six months old, he’s sitting up, showing off his sweet little personality, and sharing the kind of smiles that make it hard not to smile right back.
Kevin was an absolute sweetheart throughout his entire session. He was so happy, content, and full of those little expressions that make this age so much fun to photograph. We spent our time capturing his bright smiles, his new sitting-up skills, and all the little details that make this stage so special.
From Newborn to Six Months
One of my favorite parts of being a newborn and family photographer is getting to see familiar faces again. When I photographed Kevin as a newborn, he was in those early, sleepy days of being brand new. Now, he’s sitting up on his own and showing us more of who he is becoming.
Six months is such a sweet in-between stage. Babies are often becoming more expressive, discovering what their bodies can do, and interacting with the people around them in new ways. There is so much personality beginning to shine through!
These sessions don’t need elaborate setups or a lot of props. Sometimes, the sweetest portraits come from simply giving your baby space to be themselves and capturing the little expressions and details you’ll want to remember.
What Is a Mini Milestone Session?
Mini milestone sessions are a lovely way to document your baby’s growth between newborn photos and their first birthday. They’re shorter than a full session while still giving us time to capture a variety of sweet portraits of your little one.
They are run just like normal mini sessions – short, back to back sessions all on the same day, this way making it accessible to document the little moments without having to book a full session.
Whether your baby is starting to sit independently, showing off their first big smiles, or discovering the world around them, each stage brings something new worth remembering.
And if you’ve already had newborn photos taken, a milestone session is a beautiful way to continue documenting your baby’s first year as their personality begins to emerge.
Kevin’s six-month session was such a sweet reminder of why I love photographing babies as they grow. Getting to see him again, capture his happy little personality, and create another set of portraits for his family to keep made this session especially meaningful.
